Regular monthly walks of varying lengths, mainly Dales area for single people mainly over 50 Hambleton Strollers 1 Zetland Street, Northallerton DL6 8EE. Tel 01609 771624
Hambleton Strollers organises weekly led walks round Thirsk (and also in the other main towns of Hambleton District). Anyone can join the walks, but we especially welcome the over 50s, those with health risks such as heart disease/high blood pressure, people with inactive lifestyles, people recovering from health problems and needing simple exercise, people who think they would be too slow to join a normal walking group and those who would just like some company for walking. Walks are usually about an hour with half hour starter walks available and are on good level footpaths around the towns and on surrounding field paths when weather conditions allow. We move at a pace brisk enough for individuals to feel an increased heart rate and faster breathing. We never leave anyone behind and if you cannot walk and talk we say you are walking too fast. Thirsk walks start at 10.30am on a Wednesday, often with refreshments afterwards. See the walking for health website or our leaflet to find out more details Accessible. Whilst we cannot accommodate mobility scooters, people who can walk, even if slowly, are welcome. North Yorkshire Walkers Tel 01748 818946 / 07938 998809

We organise weekly walks, of varying lengths, throughout the year, mostly on Thursdays together with some trips and social events. They are the local group of the Walking Charity “Ramblers” which campaigns on access issues. The Northallerton Group “looks after” the paths in most of Hambleton on behalf of Ramblers. Northallerton Striders Northallerton. Tel 01609 766829
Encourages people of all ages to get up and go walking by providing guided walks of about two hours - so people can enjoy some exercise in the countryside and have the confidence of knowing they will not get lost. The walks explore new routes, building up confidence and ensuring paths are passable. Route maps and guides are usually available so that walkers can go back and try the walk again. Regular walks are on alternate Fridays and Saturdays, 10.30am to about 1pm. The walks may start in town, but are more likely to start in a local village and walking on tracks, field footpaths and minor roads. We try to plan walks based on bus stops to accommodate those people who do not drive, but we also plan walks to end at a tea shop or pub for socializing afterwards. U3A Thirsk & Sowerby
